30-Minute Daily Routine

Consistent, focused practice beats long unfocused sessions. This 30-minute routine covers the three pillars of CS2 aim: flicking, tracking, and spray control. Do this before your first ranked game every day.

Block 1: Deathmatch (10 Minutes)

  1. 1.Queue a Valve or community deathmatch server. Use the AK-47 or M4A4 only — no AWP, no pistol.
  2. 2.Focus on crosshair placement, not kills. Keep your crosshair at head level at all times, pre-aimed at common angles.
  3. 3.Avoid spraying. Tap or burst fire only. The goal is to build the habit of placing your crosshair on the head before firing.
  4. 4.Do not check the scoreboard. Deathmatch KD is meaningless. The only metric is whether your crosshair is at head level before each engagement.

Block 2: Aim Trainer (10 Minutes)

  1. 1.Use Aim Lab or Kovaak's. Choose a "Gridshot" or "Sixshot" style scenario for 3 minutes to warm up flick aim.
  2. 2.Switch to a tracking scenario (e.g., "Smooth Tracking" or "Air Voltaic") for 4 minutes. Focus on keeping your crosshair glued to the moving target.
  3. 3.Finish with a speed/reaction scenario (e.g., "Spidershot" or "Microshot") for 3 minutes. Push for faster reaction times while maintaining accuracy above 85%.

Block 3: Spray Control (10 Minutes)

  1. 1.Load a spray control workshop map (Recoil Master or similar).
  2. 2.Practice the AK-47 spray pattern first. Fire 30 bullets at a wall, then repeat while pulling down and left-right to control the pattern. Do 20 sprays.
  3. 3.Switch to the M4A4 and repeat. The M4 pattern is simpler but tighter control matters at longer ranges.
  4. 4.Practice spray transfers: spray at one target, then flick to a second target 5-10 meters away and continue spraying. This simulates multi-kill spray situations in real games.

These Steam Workshop maps are specifically designed for aim training in CS2. Subscribe to them and use them in your daily routine.

  • Recoil Master — The best spray control trainer. Shows the spray pattern visually and lets you practice with any weapon. Use this for Block 3.
  • Aim Botz — Classic aim training map with configurable bot spawns. Great for warming up flick aim with stationary and moving targets.
  • Fast Aim / Reflex Training — Bots peek from various angles at different speeds. Excellent for training reaction time and crosshair placement simultaneously.
  • Yprac Maps (Mirage, Inferno, etc.) — Map-specific practice tools that include prefire routes, smoke/flash lineups, and angle holding practice.
  • CSGOHUB Training Center — Comprehensive training map with sections for movement, aim, grenades, and game sense.

Tracking Progress

Improvement in aim is gradual and hard to notice day-to-day. Tracking metrics over weeks gives you concrete evidence of progress and keeps you motivated.

What to Track

  • Aim Lab/Kovaak's scores — Record your Gridshot and tracking scenario scores weekly. Look for a 5-10% improvement per month.
  • CS2 headshot percentage — Check your HS% in your match history. Average players hit 35-40%. Good aimers hit 50%+. Track this monthly.
  • ADR (Average Damage per Round) — Available on Leetify, Scope.gg, or CS2 stats sites. Aim for 80+ ADR in your rank bracket.
  • Spray control consistency — In Recoil Master, track how tight your spray grouping is. Screenshot your best sprays weekly.

Common Mistakes

  1. 1.Training for more than 30-40 minutes — diminishing returns set in fast. After 30 minutes, go play real games.
  2. 2.Only practicing flick aim — flick aim is flashy but spray control and crosshair placement win more rounds consistently.
  3. 3.Changing sensitivity frequently — pick a sensitivity (eDPI between 600-1200 is typical for CS2) and stick with it for at least 2 weeks before adjusting.
  4. 4.Skipping practice after good games — consistency is more important than intensity. Train every day, even after wins.
