Leona is the S-tier engage support in Patch 26.5. Master her engage timing windows, vision control patterns, and roaming routes to dominate bot lane and control the map for your team.
Leona is binary — she goes in or she does nothing. The difference between a great Leona and a bad one is knowing exactly when to press E. Engage at the wrong time and you die for free; engage at the right time and the fight is over before it starts.
Vision wins games at every rank. As a support, you are responsible for 60-70% of your team's vision. Leona can ward aggressively because her tankiness lets her survive being caught in enemy territory.
Leona is one of the best roaming supports because her CC chain guarantees kills in mid lane. A single successful roam can snowball the entire game. Knowing when to leave your ADC is the hardest skill to learn.
Max W (Eclipse) first for tankiness and damage. Max Q (Shield of Daybreak) second for reduced cooldown on your stun. Max E (Zenith Blade) last — the dash distance does not change, only the damage. Take R (Solar Flare) at 6, 11, and 16 as always.
Always activate W before you E in. The armor and magic resist from Eclipse activate immediately, and the shield explosion damage will hit after you arrive. Many Leona players forget to press W and die because they engage without their defensive steroid.
